High-Strength Anaerobic Flange Sealant
A one-component anaerobic sealant for metal flange joints with a gap of up to 0.3 mm. Thixotropic, it cures in the absence of oxygen.
The AXIOM® AS518.1 high-strength flange sealant is resistant to various service fluids, including petrol and diesel. It can be used on metals of differing activity, including aluminium with a low copper content.
It is characterised by high chemical and temperature resistance (–60°C…+150°C). It does not cause corrosion. It leaves no traces on the surface. It is not recommended for use on plastics, especially on thermoplastics, because of the possibility of their destruction.
- Work is recommended at an ambient temperature between +5°C and +40°C and a sealant temperature of +20…25°C.
- Before applying the compound, clean and degrease the surfaces with A9610 “Fast cleaner” or A9690 “Degreaser. Silicone remover”. Dry them.
- Shake the tube thoroughly. Remove the cap and cut off the tip.
- Apply the sealant as a continuous uniform bead 2–3 mm thick to one of the surfaces, first — along the inner perimeter, then — around the fastener holes.
- To prevent the parts from possible displacement they must be tightened.
- Remove excess product with a rag.
- If necessary, check the tightness of the joint with low-pressure air (up to 0.1 bar).
- To dismantle the joint it is recommended to use hand tools together with local heating.
