Low-Viscosity PU Adhesive for Automotive Glass Bonding

One-component polyurethane-based adhesive is intended for creating permanent joints between parts, fastening structural elements, and repairing damaged assemblies during installation and repair work in transport engineering. It cures under the action of atmospheric moisture.

When used together with a primer, the adhesive provides high bond strength, water resistance and resistance to ageing, and withstands vibration loads throughout its entire service life.

AXIOM® ABP 414 low-viscosity polyurethane adhesive is used to create high-strength bonded joints when installing and sealing windscreens and perimeter glazing on passenger cars, trucks and commercial vehicles. It can be painted.

  • Work should be carried out at a temperature from +5°C to +35°C. The adhesive must be kept at room temperature for at least 12 hours before application.
  • Clean and degrease the adhesive application areas. For degreasing and cleaning the surface, Silicone Remover A9690 is recommended.
  • When replacing the glass, completely remove all remnants of the original adhesive. Otherwise, the adhesion properties of this product are not guaranteed.
  • For neat work, use masking tape and remove it immediately after applying the adhesive.
  • For maximum bond strength, use Primer APC413.
  • Before applying the primer, shake it for at least 1 minute after the ball starts rattling.
  • Apply the primer to the outer edge of the glass and painted metal (the adhesive application areas) and allow it to dry for 2–5 minutes.
  • Cut the nozzle tip to the desired shape and size to provide a bead height sufficient for good contact with the windscreen around the entire perimeter. The triangular notch in the nozzle creates the optimum bead shape and height.
  • Apply the adhesive to the primed glass using a manual, pneumatic or electric sealant gun.
  • Install the glass on the vehicle.
  • Press the glass firmly to ensure full contact between the body and the adhesive.
  • Remove uncured adhesive from soiled areas with acetone or white spirit; remove cured adhesive mechanically.
