Rust Converter Primer
The AXIOM® A9673 acid-based rust converter to primer in an aerosol can. It is used for preparing rusty metal surfaces for painting. It completely converts rust and prevents new centres of corrosion from appearing.
The compound does not need to be washed off the treated surface. It forms a coating resistant to moisture and solvents that is ready for painting. During and immediately after application the product is transparent, but as it dries it turns black. After treatment with the converter the surface can be sanded, and any automotive fillers, including those with glass fibre, and any types of primer and enamel can be applied to it. Depending on the thickness of the layer and the shape of the surface, one can is sufficient for treating 1.5–2 m².
- It removes rust and prevents it from reappearing.
- It forms a coating ready for painting.
- It does not need to be washed off with water.
- Using a wire brush and coarse sandpaper, remove dirt, flaking paint and loose rust from the surface. Wash the dust off with soapy water, then dry and degrease the surface.
- To avoid aerosol overspray, protect the surfaces that are not to be treated.
- For best results the compound is recommended for application at an ambient temperature of +15…30°C and an air humidity of no more than 60%.
- Before use, shake the can vigorously for 1 minute. During application, shake the can for 10 seconds every minute.
- Apply the primer from a distance of 25–30 cm in 2–3 coats. Intermediate drying time between coats at +20°C is no more than 2 minutes. Complete drying time is 24 hours at +20°C. During drying, the treated surface must be protected from moisture.
Attention! On completion of work, to avoid clogging the spray head it is recommended to turn the can upside down and spray until the compound stops coming out.
