High-Temperature RTV Silicone Gasket Maker, Gray
Universal high-temperature one-component silicone sealant AXIOM® ASB105 with a neutral curing system. It contains no solvents or acids and does not cause corrosion. It is characterised by excellent adhesion to surfaces made of metal, plastic, glass and rubber. Thixotropic, when applied it does not run and does not slide down vertical surfaces. It vulcanises at room temperature (RTV) and forms a strong, elastic gasket. It does not crack and does not shrink.
It is used for forming or repairing gaskets in vehicle units exposed to high temperatures, such as the sump and the gearbox housing, the water pump, the valve train cover, the thermostat housing and others.
It is suitable for sealing and repairing vehicle headlights and for stopping leaks through vehicle glass seals, and it is suitable for sealing electrical connections and sensors. It can be applied to standard gaskets to improve their service properties. Not recommended for the cylinder head.
- It is not degraded under the action of oils, water, antifreeze and other automotive technical fluids.
- Resistant to loads and vibration, it has a wide service temperature range: from -60 to +345°C.
- High elasticity: it withstands compression, tension, shear and vibration loads.
- The contents of the can are sufficient to form 20–24 linear metres of gasket at a bead diameter of about 4 mm.
- Work is recommended at an ambient temperature between 5°C and 40°C and a sealant temperature of 20–25°C.
- The sealant is applied to clean, dry and degreased surfaces. To remove traces of old sealant it is recommended to use A9605 “Sealant remover”, for degreasing and cleaning — A9601 “Brake and clutch parts cleaner”.
- Use FIPG sealant dispensing systems for application.
- Smooth the sealant in the seam with a wet spatula if necessary.
- Clean tools and soiled surfaces before the sealant cures using a solvent (acetone, white spirit).
- Remove cured sealant mechanically.
- Skin formation time — 7–12 minutes, sealant curing rate — 3 mm per day (at a temperature of +23°C and a relative humidity of 50%).
- Remove excess cured sealant mechanically using A9605 “Sealant remover”.
