Dry Guide Coat

The powder guide coat is intended for checking surface defects during the repair painting of vehicle parts. Thanks to its fast drying and ease of application it is the optimum material for revealing unevenness during the sanding of various coatings.

The powder guide coat AXIOM® A9695 is used for making visible those defects (scratches, pores on the surface of the primer-filler) that are difficult to detect without the use of a guide coat and that can have a significant effect on the quality of the repair.

It is applied to prepared old paint coatings and to dry primed and filled surfaces. It is used with the dry and wet sanding methods. It does not clog the abrasive.

  • For best results the compound should be applied at an ambient temperature of not less than +10°C; the optimum application temperature is 18–25°C at a relative humidity of 50–60%.
  • Before use, shake the can vigorously for 2–3 minutes until a distinct rattle of the balls inside the can is heard.
  • Apply from a distance of 15–20 cm onto the surface in 1–2 light coats.
  • To reveal the unevenness of the surface being repaired, apply the powder guide coat to the substrate being treated before sanding the primer coating or the filler. Abrade with an abrasive of the required grade and, when finished, inspect the panel for defects.

Attention! On completion of work, to avoid clogging the spray head, turn the can upside down and spray until the compound stops coming out.
