1K Epoxy Primer, Gray
The high-quality professional one-component fast-drying epoxy primer is designed for preparing vehicle parts during refinishing and for protecting sanded-through areas during finishing.
One-component epoxy primer AXIOM® A9679 provides reliable anti-corrosion protection of the metal. Thanks to its excellent adhesion it promotes a firm bond between the topcoat and the painted surface. It has good pore filling, is easy to apply and sand, and serves as an excellent base for the application of subsequent finishing coats: acrylic primers and acrylic, alkyd and basecoat enamels. It can be used by the «wet on wet» method. Priming of old paint coatings after preliminary preparation is permitted.
Surface preparation
- Old paint coatings: degrease, sand with P220 ➡ P280 abrasive. For degreasing, А9690 “Degreaser. Silicone remover” is recommended.
- Polyester fillers: dry sand down to the final levelling with P240 ➡ P320 abrasive.
- 2K epoxy primers: up to 12 hours without sanding, after 12 hours sand with P320.
- Steel: degrease, dry sand with P120.
- Aluminium: degrease, dry sand with P280 ➡ P360.
- Galvanised steel: degrease, matt with an abrasive pad, degrease.
- Stainless steel: degrease.
Application
- For best results, apply the product at an ambient temperature of not below +10°C and a relative air humidity of not above 75%. Recommended application temperature +20°C.
- To avoid aerosol overspray marks, protect the surfaces that are not to be painted.
- Before use, shake the can vigorously for 2–3 min. Repeat the shaking during work.
- Apply the primer from a distance of 15–20 cm in 1–2 even thin coats (thickness of 1 coat about 10–15 µm) with intermediate drying of 5–10 minutes. Flash-off before applying the finish coating by the “wet on wet” method — 20 min.
- If dirt inclusions appear, remove them by hand with P400–500 sandpaper after 2 hours (once the primer has dried completely). Tack-free drying time at +20°C — 15–20 minutes, complete drying — 2 hours.
Attention!When work is finished, to avoid clogging the spray head, turn the can upside down and spray until the product stops coming out.
