Why should a choke and carburettor cleaner be used to remove deposits? Can the deposits not be removed with petrol or kerosene?
Resins, carbon and other deposits formed in the intake tract cannot be washed off with petrol, because they precipitate out of petrol itself. A far stronger solvent is needed here. In addition, deposits and dirt are better washed off with a pressurised jet of cleaner, which is much more effective. In AXIOM® choke and carburettor cleaner we use a strong solvent; in addition, we have selected the gas pressure inside the can and the diameter of the spray valve so that the jet is strong enough while the consumption of the product remains moderate.
Why do choke and carburettor cleaners give off a sharp odour?
Since strong solvents are used in all choke and carburettor cleaners, all such products give off an odour; it is impossible to make them completely odourless. However, we managed to select the formulation of AXIOM® choke and carburettor cleaner in such a way that its odour is moderate for this class of product. Most workshop mechanics who use our cleaner chose it partly because it has no excessively sharp and unpleasant odour.
What should be done if AXIOM® choke and carburettor cleaner gets on the hands or in the eyes?
AXIOM® choke and carburettor cleaner contains a strong solvent which can damage the skin or the mucous membrane. Safety precautions must therefore be observed during work, and gloves and safety goggles used. If the cleaner gets on the hands or in the eyes, the affected area must be rinsed immediately with plenty of cold water.
What happens if AXIOM® choke and carburettor cleaner gets onto the paintwork of a vehicle?
The strong solvent used in AXIOM® choke and carburettor cleaner can easily damage the paintwork of a vehicle. Try therefore not to spray it near painted parts. If the situation forces you to use AXIOM® choke and carburettor cleaner next to painted surfaces, keep a dry clean rag ready, and if the cleaner gets onto the paint, wipe the spot dry immediately.
Can AXIOM® choke and carburettor cleaner be used for cleaning brakes and the clutch?
AXIOM® choke and carburettor cleaner removes any contamination very effectively, so it is permissible to use it as a brake and clutch cleaner. However, the fact should be taken into account that painted body parts are located next to the brake mechanisms, and throttle and carburettor cleaner easily damages paint. Safety precautions should therefore be observed.
Why does a can of AXIOM® choke and carburettor cleaner not create a strong enough jet in cold weather?
A can of AXIOM® choke and carburettor cleaner is filled with a mixture of propane and butane, which is very sensitive to temperature changes. On cooling the pressure in the can falls sharply, on heating it rises just as sharply. That is precisely why a cold can cannot deliver a sufficient jet. If a can of AXIOM® choke and carburettor cleaner has been stored in a cold warehouse, it must be kept in a warm room before use so that its working properties are restored. It is not recommended to heat it with a hairdryer or other heating appliances: on overheating the pressure in the can may rise above the critical level and the can will explode.
